If you're like many people today, you probably use your mobile phone more often to text than to make calls with. This probably means that from time to time you have accidentally deleted a text or two. If it turns out that it was important and you need to retrieve it, there is a solution: a SIM card recovery kit.
Get a SIM card recovery kit. This includes software to read the data on the card, and a device that plugs into the USB port on your computer. Find these kits at your local cell phone or computer store, or online (see Resources for options).
Insert the CD-ROM from the kit into the drive on your computer. Windows will ask if you wish to install the application and drivers. Click "Yes" and follow the instructions given to you on the screen.
Turn your phone off and remove the battery. Remove the SIM card by lifting the metal gate up and sliding the white rectangular chip out of the slot.
Insert the SIM card into the USB device and plug it into your computer's USB port.
Go to the Start menu on your computer and open the application that you installed earlier. Go to "File" and "Download Text Messages." This will download any available text messages on the SIM card (both deleted and undeleted) to a window in the software. Note that a text message isn't deleted until the memory slot where it resides has been written over. Once it has been written over, nothing can retrieve it.
Go to the window with the text messages and find the one that you wish to undelete. It will be marked in red. To undelete it, right-click on the file and select "Undelete," which will restore the message.
